When Kirsten graduated from University she took a year off and had the opportunity to travel in Africa . She also embraced the opportunity to summit, amongst others, Mount Kilimanjaro .

Having grown up in South Africa and having travelled through Zimbabwe , Namibia , Uganda , Tanzania , Kenya and Zanzibar , Kirsten fell in love with Africa .

Whilst Honeymooning in Zanzibar Kirsten and her husband visited the local school in Pongwe , an area North East of the island. They gave the school soccer balls and school supplies. Instead of wedding gifts, they had asked their guests to fill the gift table with everything the school children would need.

Action4Africa is a non-profit organisation that raises money for sustainable projects in Africa , through fund raising events, projects and social entrepreneurship. Kirsten and some like-minded friends set up the Action4Africa organisation in January 2009

Since it's founding at the start of this year, Action4Africa has hosted the Action4Africa Summer Ball which raised £3000 for Canaan Care in South Africa, have imported both clothing and jewelry from Africa to help communities feed, clothe and educate their families in both the Kwa-Zulu Natal and Cape Town areas and are in the process of organising a Golf Day to help support iThemba Projects in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa.

Climbing Kilimanjaro for Charity - In 2010 Action4Africa is hoping to climb Kilimanjaro for charity. The group will be lead by John Black and Robby Kojetin , who have both recently summited Everest!

Overland Missions is an organisation committed to every tribe, tongue, and nation in the uttermost parts of the earth to bring the gospel, humanitarian care and economic opportunities, to save and empower lives. Kirsten and her husband have the pleasure of partnering, in their own small way, with Jamie & Ciaran Stirling , an awesome young couple who are based in Zambia .
